Job Description: 
  • Perform product development in accordance with Merge Healthcare’s methodology and practices.
  • Provide expertise on engineering systems; plan, advise, analyze, design, test, and manage highly complex engineering software and hardware systems.
  • Responsible to deliver customer workflow, feature functionality, product quality, reliability, serviceability, manufacture ability, regulatory, compliance, and cost for hemodynamic medical devices and near-patient electro physiology interfaces. Activities include requirements development, traceability and flow down, system architecture / system design and analysis, and Risk Analysis.
  • Developing methods to quantify subsystem interactions and their effects on system performance including networking, data I/O, and user experience factors.
  • Making design recommendations to improve reliability and resolve conflicting requirements. Implement reliability growth and/or qualification tests to validate predictions.
  • Define sub assembly interfaces and allocate sub assembly requirements to design teams.
  • Conduct impact analysis for design changes and implement necessary actions.
  • Accountable for implementing and teaching engineering standards.
  • Effectively work with test engineering, throughout project to drive efficiency in V&V.
  • Considers customer needs and trends for projects and activities.
  • Designs solutions that can be readily adapted to changes in technology and/or clinical use.
  • Drive continuous improvement ideas in processes and best practices.
  • Identifies and communicates potential risks with appropriate mitigations.
  • Synthesizes complex information gathered from a variety of sources and disseminates to others.
  • Determines required tasks and completes on time with no supervision.



Required Technical and Professional Expertise
  • BS Degree in Engineering (Biomedical, Electrical/Software, or Mechanical)
  • 7+ years of engineering experience
  • 5+ years of experience working in cross functional team
  • 3+ years of experience working with translating customer needs into design requirements and architecture
  • 3+ years of experience applying risk management methodologies including FMEA and Risk/Hazard Analysis
  • Experience working in a Medical Device with architecture being PC based Demonstrated experience working on new product development projects resulting in successful products in compliance with FDA or other regulatory bodies. Background in 13485 QMS, 60601-1 System Safety, and 62304 Software Development Processes.
Preferred Technical and Professional Experience
  • Experience in patient monitoring desirable
